Photo Journal

(July 31, 2011)

This morning Kristina and I breakfasted at the Queen Street Cafe. On the way, we inadvertently passed by the Bowden Brompton Community Garden. The gates were locked, but one of the proprietors caught us peeking and invited us to check out the chickens. We had a bit of a chat, and apparently the land for the garden is being taken over, square metre by square metre, by a housing establishment. It was insane seeing a bona fide old-fashioned garden (veggie patches, roosters, fruit trees and scarecrows) ringed in by dozens of slate gray McMansions. I smell a story.

Kinfolk

Last week, Kristina and I were inspired by Kinfolk Magazine and decided to host a Very Nice Little Dinner Party. (You can find my review of Kinfolk over at The Thousands).
